Commodore 65 and… MEGA65

  • blog

As I described in a previous article the Commodore 65 remained in prototype status only to be lost in the sands of Commodore’s bankruptcy. The series of prototypes designed and produced were acquired during Commodore’s bankruptcy auction by the Grapevine company, which resold them at retail. We are still talking about incomplete devices, however. Instead, in 2015 a group of enthusiasts with specific skills began to design the successor to the Commodore 65 in a modern key. The MEGA65 project was born, which can be followed on the web portal www.mega65.org .

Pictured are two Commodore 65s with boards revision 2b and 5 respectively and a MEGA65 prototype version belonging to a preliminary release of 22 pieces. To be exact the one in the photo number 15.
